Oslo's first float centre, since 2015
No sound. No light. No gravity. Just you, at Uranienborg.
What floating is
The water holds so much Epsom salt that you float without doing anything. Your neck, back and shoulders get a break from gravity for the first time in a long while.
The tank shuts out sound, light and temperature. With nothing to process, the brain settles into the same rhythm it has just before sleep.
Every tank sits in a private room with its own shower. You choose music, a starry sky, or complete darkness.
Your hour, minute by minute
Come ten minutes early. We show you the room, the tank and the buttons. Ask anything you like. Otherwise we leave you in peace.
You shower off the day in your own room. The earplugs are waiting. Then you close the tank door behind you.
For the first few minutes the body looks for something to hold on to. Then it gives up. After a quarter of an hour it's hard to say where the water ends and you begin.
Soft music and a faint glow bring you back up. No sudden wake-up, nobody knocking.
Shower, dry your hair, and sit down with a cup of tea. Most people stay a little longer than they planned.
Prices
Drop-in floats are booked online in advance, so you know the tank is yours when you arrive. First time? The intro offer gives you three floats for the price of two.

About us
We tried floating for the first time on holiday in Barcelona, and decided there and then to bring it home to Oslo. In the summer of 2015 we opened our doors at Uranienborg as the city's first float centre.
Like many people we've had our ups and downs with mental health. For us meditation was the key, and the tank was the easiest way into it. We believe floating has something to offer everyone, and we look forward to hosting you on your first float.

Avoid caffeine for a few hours beforehand, so you're not lying there with the jitters. Don't shave or wax in the last 8 to 12 hours, the salt water can sting freshly shaved skin. A light meal an hour or so before keeps your stomach quiet. Beyond that, no preparation is needed.
Pregnant women love floating. There's even a special position that takes all the weight of the baby off your body. If you're in your third trimester, or have any concerns, talk to your doctor before booking.
Then you sleep well. The water is shallow and the buoyancy so strong that you lie stable on your back. If you turn over, the salt water in your face wakes you immediately, and the light and music bring you up when the hour is over.
Yes. Just follow the same routine you would for a swimming pool.
Wait until the water runs completely clear when you shower at home. If colour still comes out, wait another couple of days. Strong dyes damage the tank and the salt solution, so in that case we unfortunately can't let you float.
No. Our tanks are spacious, and you can open the door at any time. If you'd like a little light, switch on the starry sky. Many people leave the door ajar the first time.
